It was 1980 when I started "नंदादीप डोळ्याचा दवाखाना " (Nandadeep Eye Hospital) in a very small rental place in Shivaji Nagar, Sangli, Maharashtra.
I had no financial backing as well as medical profession background. It was only the will power to start eye centre which will impart vision to all needy patients.
The name Nandadeep was selected as it means the lamp which spreads light for eternal time.
Being a son of Teacher who imbibed moral values in me Our hospital follows most ethical practice ,complete transparency, Humility amd Integrity is part and parcel pf delivering our services to patients
My wife Dr Madhavi and I always tried to learn new techniques acquire latest equipment even when those didn't make financial sense only for the benefit of the patients. Most of the equipment were introduced by us for the first time in southern Maharashtra. We started surgery under microscope for implanting intraocular lens in 1983. We were the first to start Phacoemulsification (Sutureless) cataract surgery in southern Maharashtra in 1996.
I thank everyone for their countless blessings and good wishes which has helped Nandadeep to reach where we are today. We shall always strive to live up to patients' expectations and deliver the best vision possible.
